CAS(E) this Sketch 41

This week's  sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch was simple and fun, but a tiny bit challenging for me...I tend to take sketches so literally that I couldn't think what to do with the two elements.   I made a card that I didn't think would qualify, so I will be putting that card in my next post, but I thought this one was a bit more "like" the sketch...here's my card and the sketch...
I turned the sketch and did it the long side of the card.
I used a Simon Says Stamp set to make the polka dotted pattern for the flowers with Melon Mambo ink, the flowers were punched with an EK Success punch.  The stems are from a retired set from Stampin Up, From the Heart.  The sentiment is Hero Arts...from a wood mounted set of three stamps I bought at Target.  A real mix of sets and stuff...I'll have the one that didn't cut it, tomorrow:!!   Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa
EDITED***  I am smiling ear to ear...thrilled and so honored...my card was chosen as an Honorable Mention  this week at CAS(E) this Sketch!!  Thanks so much, ladies!!

Triangular Rainbow

I don't have much time to visit a lot of blogs. Somehow, the other day while on the computer, I was looking"somewhere"...I don't remember where....and looked at a card that led me to "somewhere else"...I don't remember where(did you ever do that??)...and I wound up over at Moxie Fab World.  I rarely get there, but thought I would check out the challenges and found the Trendy Triangles Challenge, which ends today!  I had just been thinking about triangles, so thought it perfect to join the challenge:)!! This is what I made...
I die cut triangles with the Papertrey Ink's Heart to Heart #5 die and layered them.  I cut a gray and white panel at the same time in a circular shape(used a big cereal bowl to trace) so they would fit perfectly side-by-side and then placed the triangles in position.  I cut a part a sentiment from My Favorite Things and curved it to "follow the rainbow".  I stamped it, then clear embossed.  I then went back and adhered the triangles in place.  FUN...hey...triangles that I had been wanting to play with, mixed with a RAINBOW...really SUPER FUN!!  Thanks, Cath at Moxie Fab World, for a fun challenge:)!!  Thanks to you all,  for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa

Hearts Aren't Just for Valentine's Day...

I used an Impression Obsession die, Heart of Hearts, to make four different cards for different occasions...thinking...hearts are love, but they don't have to be just for Valentine's Day...
Ok...can start out with an obvious LOVE card...
I layered a couple white die cuts with a black piece of cardstock beneath them.   I added 2 red hearts to the center hearts and put some glossy accents over them for some shine...
The sentiment is Paper Smooches, masked and stamped in red and black.

Then...I thought of Fall and with the perfect sentiment from Simon Says Stamp, I  layered the white paper like the first, but sponged four Hero Arts inks on a glossy piece of paper, then layered beneath the white panel...

The third one I thought of a wedding, and used metallic red and silver to fill in the hearts on the die cut with the two center ones being the sole silver ones.  I know the pic is not the best...hard to photograph metallic paper, but the Congratulations by Simon Says Stamp is stamped with versamark and silver embossed, the whole card shows so much better IRL...

The fourth one has, OF COURSE, rainbow colors...the sentiment from My Favorite Things just lent itself to these colors so perfectly...sentiments are sooooo key for me when it comes to card making...
For this card, I used seven different colors and replaced the colors into the white cut out hearts.  Just thought this DID look cheerful?!  There you have it...SUPER FUN!!!  Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa

Less is More 133...Round and Round

The challenge this week at Less is More is to make a clean and simple card that uses an image that implies movement/motion...wheels or a card with moving parts as examples.  I chose a baby buggy...
The buggy is a Papertrey Ink Polka Dot Parade #4 die, which I layered several times with white card stock underneath the polka dotted paper.  I die cut a  heart with a Simon Says Stamp Holiday Shapes (I cut apart these dies).  I die cut with a larger heart for the underneath layers to avoid imperfect positioning, the bottom layer total white with no cut outs.   I made one in blue and one in pink...
I used a sentiment from Hero Arts Baby set (I think it's retired), but if you don't have this set, you could do the same thing with the same "kind" of sentiment.  I cut apart a 4-lined sentiment from this set...
This sentiment is on the bottom left...would probably never have used it as it was, but cut it apart,
and placed it in a semi circle  on an acrylic block around the die I used to cut the circle in my panel so when I stamped it, it would fit perfectly around the circle.  I had done this before on a set of thank you cards...a fun way to stamp a sentiment!  Stamped with versamark and white embossed...
I added some gel pen white dots at the end/in between the sentiments.  Then used the Papertrey Ink Linen/Canvas impression plate on the panel for texture.
Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa

Happy Birthday Flowers

I had gotten the Hero Arts Tall Flowers stamp I used on this card a while ago...just getting around to using it...what fun!!...
I stamped on some Soft Suede cardstock with versamark and white embossed the stamped image. I then colored the flowers with my Prismacolor pencils.  I can't tell you how much I love my Prismacolor pencils...their color is so vivid and beautiful...I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to color with them...feel like a kid again, only a more sophisticated kid , and able to get a much better look with my colors than when I was a kid:):)!!!   TIP:  When coloring detailed work with these colored pencils, such as some of these flowers, make sure you keep the pencils constantly sharpened, having a sharp point, so the pencils don't color on the white embossed areas...makes for a crisp clean colored look!!  (They WERE an investment...but one I have been so glad I made...and have never regretted!!)   I dotted all the flowers with rhinestones, the sentiment is a cut apart sentiment from Hero Arts also versamark stamped/white embossed...wrapped twine around the panel and tied in bow... FUN!!!  Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa

Hope

I recently purchased a lovely set of stamps by The Craft's Meow, Hope Blooms, and made this card...
I stamped the two flowers together, then the leaf, then the sentiment.  Took me several tries to get them all just right, but once they were all stamped and clear embossed, I used two Memento markers (Angel Pink and Pear Tart) and colored the flowers and leaf.  The final added touch to my card was to exacto cut three of the petals on the flowers...two on the straight flower, one on the flower above the sentiment, and curl them out a bit to give some dimension.  I popped the whole panel up with 1/8" foam squares, but used a 1/8" + a 1/16" squares under each of the cut out petals to REALLY pop them out and so they would stay there.  The flowers and sentiments are lovely...I'm certain you will be seeing more with this set:)!!   Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa

Strong Like a Butterfly

I purchased a set of sentiments by My Favorite Things mostly for the sentiment on this card...I LOVE IT!!!  I paired it with a Simon Says butterfly die, for like us, the butterfly, as it struggles out of it's cocoon,  lives by the very same sentiment...
I die cut 2 black butterfly outlines and one background, and a blue and a green butterfly.  I adhered the black together with the background die cut on the bottom. with adhesive all over it(the pieces will then stick to the background's adhesive). I placed the colored pieces in the black butterfly.   I used some fine black wire to give the butterfly some antennae and used my Papertrey Ink Woodgrain impression plate for some detail.
I tried to put some dots, sparkle ...some bling on the upper right corner, but I guess it's just me...I liked it plain!!  For those of you thinking that you're not strong enough....you WILL be strong if being strong is  your only choice...such powerful truth!!  Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa
