I had another idea for the pretty Simon Says Stamp Oval of Flowers die...to make the oval shape into a rectangle!...
I cut the die onto my cardstock, then die cut it some more around the four curved edges on the cardstock, to give the die cut some more flowers and dots fit
for a rectangular frame. Here are some pics of what I did...
I die cut the oval in first pic. I die cut the big flowers on two of the curves(notice, I almost hate to admit, they're not perfect...but cool... no worries...it's OK:)!!)
Then...die cut the other two curves, and then what it looks like in the frame...no bare spots of the oval curves showing through a rectangular frame:)!
Here's a close up, after filled in with trio colored shades of paint chips...
FUN...SO MUCH FUN!! Hope you are having a sensational Sunday! Thanks for visiting me today!!
Hugs!! Lisa
That's so cool! I have the heart shaped one, I'll have to give it a try and see if it works. I bet it will. Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteSo clever! Thanks for showing me more ways to use what I have.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. I love when you can find different ways to use the same item.
ReplyDeleteI love this technique and thank you for sharing. Would you please explain how you adhered the colored shades of paint chips? The effect is fabulous, but I'm baffled as to the best way to accomplish this part of the technique. Thank you again for your kindness in sharing.
ReplyDeleteHey Virginia! The easiest and most accurate way to adhere the paint chips is to emboss the oval die onto the bottom piece of cardstock and put your adhesive all over it(making sure, if like this one, having used black cardstock, that you don't put adhesive onto the black dot parts, as you want them to show through), then you just put the layers of white die cuts directly over the embossed black with the adhesive, and place the die cut pieces into the layered panel. Hope that makes sense. Let me know if it doesn't:)...Hugs!!
DeleteI have the same question as Virginia. How do you adhere the paint chips? Would you please show a pic of the back of the die cut? Thanks much for the dose of inspiration. I so look forward to your posts ❤️

Great idea on using this die (and others as well) - it turned out beautifully!
ReplyDeleteWhat a clever idea! I love to learn about ways expand the use of supplies I already have. I'm also curious about how you add the paint chips.
ReplyDeleteOh Lisa, this is beautiful. You could do this with any open die to change the look! Very clever and so beautiful. TFS!
ReplyDeleteJust gorgeous... love the colours :)
