I have made a couple cards with the very pretty new Simon Says Stamp Whirl Bay Leaves die...one for Christmas and one, a Fall, thankful (story later), from the new Simon DieCember® release!
With both cards, I die cut the leaves from white cardstock, and brushed on ink from Simon ink pads. With this card, I die cut the flowers from white cardstock, and brushed on the reds. I made white centers on acetate, so the red ink would not bleed with the white, then adhered them to the flowers. I added an additional layer of enamel accents to the centers, after they were adhered. I dotted the card with glossy accents. I added a die cut and layered CZ Design Merry Christmas. Here's a close up...
The second one...well, I have two versions...
I made this card in early November...not thinking(remembering) that this release was going to go "live" on December 1st...days AFTER Thanksgiving, and Fall was pretty well over!! I liked it very much, though, so...here it is! It's not such a bad thing to know that a die can be perfect for different occasions. THEN...I was on the phone with my daughter, just a bit ago, and she suggested I sprinkle the leaves with white paint to make them look kind of like snow. SO...I got a toothbrush from those the dentist gives me, experimented on a post it note, and went for it! This is my "new" card...
Given this was the first time I had done this, I wasn't super disappointed, but wish that I would have splattered bigger white splats, but it's okay for a first try. I think I still like the original a bit better, though...I'm such a simpleton. Here's a close up...
