I have been absent for a while...I broke my knee cap in two pieces last Monday afternoon after I slipped on a patch of water in my kitchen(this was my second fall with water and flip flops, the last was on my bum at Walmart near a leaking soda machine...a HUGE bruise resulted....so I am now getting rid of all my flip flops). The fall last week, I landed directly on my one knee! An ambulance, emergency room, x ray(you can see one piece of the knee cap above, the smaller piece of the knee cap below the top bone)...
...surgery 2 days later, I am now in recovery mode. I have reduced my pain meds to bare minimums, am hobbling on both feet with my hinged brace (which allows me to bend it to the dr's recommended 70°) not using crutches after 3 days and beginning to feel and function a bit more normally than 5 days ago!! I will be in my brace for 6 weeks, but am feeling pretty good!! I just reentered my craft room for the first time in over a week, yesterday, but sitting is still a bit uncomfortable, so I am posting a card that I made a couple weeks ago...thought it fitting for ME:)!!...
The thing that is different about this card is that the die cut sentiment by Paper Smooches is cut down. I have always been a bit intimidated by changing the design of die cuts. This sentiment is super long in it's design,
fitting on an A2 card with any extra space is not possible without cutting it. I love the look of Paper Smooches sentiments and wanted to make this "get well" work for a standard sized card:)!! I used a piece of another get well from a Paper Smooches stamp set. I am no longer afraid to trim to make a die cut work for me:)!! Still a little afraid of seeing my knee underneath the bandages:):)!! Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa

As always your card is just beautiful! I hope you heal quickly and feel much better sooner than that. What a terrible time of year for a mobility injury. Take care of yourself and let others help!
ReplyDeleteHi Lisa, I am relatively new to your blog but have been really inspired by your beautiful cards. I am so sorry to hear about your accident, I hope you are not in too much pain and make a speedy recovery. All the best! Karen x
ReplyDeleteI've never been good with flip flops either! So sorry to hear about your difficulties. Glad that you are starting to feel better!
ReplyDeleteWarmest of wishes to you!
Oh my gosh, Lisa, hugs to you! Take care and don't overdo. Your accident now has me rethinking a decision I made to buy an inexpensive pair of flip-flops so I could get in the tub and wash down the bathroom tiles more easily. Maybe I'll just donate them instead! Cute card, Lisa, and very appropriate for you, indeed!
ReplyDeleteWondered why I wasn't seeing any updates. I could write a book on flip-flop accidents! I no longer wear them either. Hope you just keep getting better each day.
ReplyDeleteOh no! Praying you heal quickly. xo
ReplyDeleteLove your get well card!
Wishing you a speedy recovery. Great looking card...not so much on the X-ray...ouch!
ReplyDeleteOh, Lisa! So sorry about your knee but you have a good attitude and that's a big part of speedy recovery! Thanks for continuing to share your beautiful works of art with us and thanks for the inspiration! Hugs, Sherry
ReplyDeleteOh Lisa - So sorry to hear about your fall and the awful knee insury! OUCH! Gosh you have me scared as I "live" in flip flops, they are my shoe of choice and I wear them year round...even as my slippers in the winter. I guess I will be extra careful and continue to only wear those with good arch support and som anti slip...if there truly is such a thing...
ReplyDelete..on the upside clearly your designer skills are still perfect and that shows so well in this adorable card!
Hugs and Healing thoughts,
Lisa
Sorry to hear of your broken patella! It's good to know that you're on the road to recovery. Just don't overdo it! Your card is really lovely. It will surely help the recipient feel better in a hurry. Bev

ReplyDeleteYaouch!! I'm so sorry, Lisa! You sound like you have a very high pain threshold! I'd still be in bed! Your get well card for yourself is outstanding! I love the words with their tails cut off! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteWishing you a speedy recovery!!
ReplyDeleteLisa, I can't begin to say how badly I feel about this. I am so glad you are beginning to feel better, but feel terrible I didn't know so I could have alerted the team. I literally only found out when I first commented on your card. I am sending my best wishes and want you to know I enjoyed being on the team together. I'll leave a private message on SCS too.
ReplyDeleteBe well, get strong, and know you're in my thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely, Susie Lessard ~
I'm so very sorry! I dealt with a broken leg in college as a result of a skiing accident, so I can relate—one minute you are fine, the next you are totally dependent on others. Not fun! Hope you heal quickly and well! Take good care of yourself!
ReplyDeleteHope you're on the mend - fabulous layout to this!!
