Papertrey Ink Chevrons

I used my new Papetrey Ink Cover Plate: Chevron Vertical plate and made a card!...
I used some Bazzill textured papers with 2 blues, 2 pinks and a green, and die cut just a few rows in each color.  I die cut several white for the outline and layered them.  The stamped and die cut sentiments are from Simon Says Stamp.  Here's a close up of the sentiment which I stamped on vellum...

Thanks so Much

I made a card for the Splitcoaststampers clean and simple challenge this week #231, which is a sketch.  Here's my card and the sketch...

I opted for a literal interpretation and to make all the elements of the sketch one layer, but then layered onto card and placed my sentiment lower than shown in the sketch.  I used a spellbinder rectangle die and die cut a rectangle out of the black panel.  I die cut another rectangle in white.  I then put the white rectangle into the black hole and die cut the two thin gray strips with a Papertrey Ink Sketched Shape die.  The sentiment is Hero Arts(a cut apart sentiment).  Super simple, easy...and super fun!!

CASology...Camp

I am super thrilled and so honored to have been asked by Melissa (CONGRATULATIONS, Melissa on the birth of your baby girl on Sunday! SO happy for you!!) to be the guest designer at CASology this week!!...
The cue card this week is CAMP...
I used to camp all the time with my parents from an early age up until my mid teens...some of the best experiences of my childhood!!  BUT...the word camp, also made me think of going to camp.  I went to summer camp when I was little, a day camp.  I could not decide which CAMP to use for my card, so I made one for each school of thought...
When you camp in the wilderness, you can see a million stars!!  There are no lights from the city to drown out their brilliance!! I wanted to capture that part of my memories when we would camp.   I used a Memory box Landscape die and a star die from Simon Says Stamp(I cut many of my dies apart, as I did this one, with my Stanley 7" all purpose snips:)!).  I die cut the landscape which had houses, but cut the houses off to make it more "wildernessy" and moved a couple of the pine trees from the end of the die to the place where I had cut off one of the houses.  I layered on a black panel that I had die cut some very tiny stars, the smallest of the Simon Says Stamp Holiday Shapes and added some dots with my white gel pen. Used a Spellbinder rectangle die and cut a rectangle out of the main panel, stamped the sentiment from My Favorite Things and popped up panel on white card.

My second card was based on going to camp.  I can remember that there were LOTS of crafts at camp. I chose to take a couple craft  items I remember from camp and make a card...a pipe cleaner and some yarn!  I used a red pipe cleaner and some red yarn along with a die cut Paper Smooches "love" sentiment for a pattern.  I twisted the pipe cleaner into the shape of the word using the die cut to compare my design to....my "e" is a little bigger than the die cut, but the word is pretty close:):)!  This was my third try...and just a note...I cut most of the red fuzz off the pipe cleaner...it makes it easier to wrap the yarn if there are not long red pieces hanging out from the pipe cleaner.  Added a "you" from a Simon Says Stamp set and popped up on white card.  Super simple...SUPER FUN!!
Thank you, Melissa, for inviting me to be a part of your design team this week...a blast from the past...and a blast!!
Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa

Golden Anniversary

I am having such fun with the new challenge I discovered...CASologyThis week, Week 54,  the cue card is GOLD...
I thought of anniversaries when thinking of gold, and using some cut out birds from one of my first Online Card Classes, Inspiration Showcase, I stamped on these semi shiny gold paper  birds...
I cut out the birds then took a Cover The Card stamp and stamped the birds with versamark and gold embossed. I popped up and sat them on some gold thread.  The sentiment  is Avery Elle, stamped with versamark and gold embossed, too.  Here's a close up(if you noticed...yes, I repositioned the left bird a bit after taking this picture:)!!)...
OK...FUN!!!   Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa

Sunshine Turned Starlight

I decided to use the new Sunshine Die from Simon Says Stamp and turn the sun to a star(you can find my sunshine cards HERE)!  I made 2 baby cards and a shiny fun card...
So...I used the fun, Puffy Stars from Lawn Fawn(I just got them because of the cute cards they made with them in the Online Summer Card Class:)!!)...not only love the fun shape, but this star fit perfectly over the sun's circle, unlike many of the star dies I have.  The sentiments used for all three cards are from Verve's Shining Star stamp set.  The dotted paper is Papertrey ink.  Dotted the "i" in "little with a star made with Simon Says Stamp's Holiday Shapes die.

The third one, using this particular sentiment, I wanted shiny silver for a real shining star...
The paper is Taken with Teal, the silver from Michael's.  Here's a close up of the cool silver...
A versatile die...sun AND stars:)!!

Less is More 129...Hand Made Flowers

The challenge this week at Less is More is to make a clean and simple card with hand made flowers.  I decided to use some My Favorite Things Rolled Rose dies I have had for years and make some purple roses...

I die cut then rolled(start with a pencil and then roll in hands) the roses from felt along with some leaves.  I stamped the Hero Arts Happy Birthday and then used a black marker pen to draw lines around the aperture.

Black and Bright Birthday

I had gotten some word dies from My Favorite Things and decided to have some fun!  I combined the "HAPPY" with a Papertrey Ink flower and cut up Hero Arts sentiment,  and after some experimenting and trial and error made this...
I find these kind of sentiment dies very interesting but also very puzzling...what to do with them???  SO...I die cut one in blue and one in white.  I decided to combine the sentiment with the PTI flowers and felt, but the blues didn't match.  BUT...after I versamarked the blue "HAPPY"...they matched perfectly, so I then clear embossed the sentiment and line.  I had just gotten some Zing green embossing powder(haven't had colored embossing powder since my first round of stamping many years ago, but decided to give it another try as I thought the bright colors would be so cool on black!!).  I thought it might be cool to versamark the white "HAPPY" sentiment that I had die cut and emboss with the bright green powder.  I didn't like it so much as the main sentiment...it was just a little too light for me, but by accident, I put the green behind the blue and together, they made a shadow...now I DID think THAT was cool!!   I angled and cut to fit.   I stamped the cut apart sentiment in versamark and used the green embossing powder.  I originally had 4 different die cut colored felt flowers on the card and 5 of them, but again, trial and error...thought that it looked best with less...less flowers and colors(the blue is Papertrey Ink Hawaiian Shores...cannot link???!!!)!!
