On the Kick Start class I took recently, one of the things that was mentioned was to take old cards and redo. I had made this card two years ago when I didn't have a blog yet, my only source of showing my work was Splitcoaststampers...you can find my original(scary how I photographed then...not sure why it's sooooo bad, I had the same camera. I think I've learned just a little about picture taking since then:):):)!!!) HERE...I did away with the framing, changed the sentiment, made the snowflakes smaller and colored the scene just a tad differently...maybe not a real redo...but a redo for me...
Made with a stamp from Memory Box (Snowy Branches), stamped with Early Espresso and clear embossed. Sponged with SU Baja Breeze after tearing a post it note in half. Sponged top first, masking the bottom, then masked the top and super lightly sponged the bottom. Because the snow was brown dots when stamped, dotted the snow with white Enamel Accents, white gel pen didn't work. Used a white gel pen to put some snow on the branches. The sentiment is SU.
For the Give-away...I have an extra one of these Memory Box stamps and would LOVE to give it away!! Leave a comment and I'll randomly choose a winner next Wednesday at 10:30pm...one week from now....anyone from anywhere!!
Thanks for visiting me today!!
Hugs!! Lisa
I like them both :) The falling snow is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI loved watching the development over the years. I hope that I can also grow in this craft :) Your new card is so pretty! so fresh
ReplyDeleteLove the redo!
ReplyDeleteOh oh that is SUCH a cool way to use the dot template! WOuld have never thought of that. I like the graduation hue - just learned last weekend how to do it several ways than how I was doing it - a lot less damaging to the paper!
ReplyDeleteThis card is STUNNING!!!! Love everything about it:-) Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cards! Great job on both of them. Amazing what changing the angle will do for photographing cards. Wonder why most of us seem to start with the head on shot?
ReplyDeleteI love this card...so peaceful. I would love to win the stamp....it would work so well with with my Pan Pastels.
ReplyDeleteCathy
very nice card!
ReplyDeleteI never would have thought to use a aqua color for the sky..but it looks amazing! It reminds me of a nice, warm winter day! Love the snow too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful card--so peaceful, befitting the saying underneath.
ReplyDeleteI like the redo better, it's just a bit more elegant somehow, but great colour combo on both and a lovely stamp.
ReplyDeleteI just discovered and subscribed to your blog. And have spent the last hour and a half gazing at all of the wonderful creations. WOW! Thank for the chance to win this wonderful stamp
ReplyDeleteThe tranquility of this card is spectacular. I think it captures the essence of a lovely winter day.
ReplyDeleteWonderful card, love it so so much!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful card! Love it.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card, Lisa! Your first card is gorgeous, too. I think it's just all about coming into our own style and back then you were still "experimenting". Love your work!
ReplyDeleteI love the card. The re-do is fabulous.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card(s)! Since I love trees I, of course, love this stamp! It made me check out Memory box stamps since I was only familiar with their dies. Now I also love their images!
ReplyDeleteI do like the redo better, but I look back at some of my originals and realize I've learned a lot since the beginning. Great sponging effect.
ReplyDeleteLove this! The original was very nice as well, but I do think your subtle changes kicked it up a notch. It's getting pinned on one of my Pinterest boards so I can CASE in the future. Great job!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards, Lisa! I love your style and attention to details. Thanks for sharing your Splitcoast gallery!
ReplyDeleteI ADORE this card, Lisa! Such a simple design, but with your color shading and the texture you added it makes a huge impact! I may CASE this for some of my Christmas cards!
ReplyDeleteI don't see anything wrong with the old card - both are stunning - love the colors you used - I know I will have to CASE these.
ReplyDeleteLisa! I really do love both versions of the card. I'll have to make my own version soon! And thank you for the chance to win!!
ReplyDeleteLove it! FANTASTIC redo!
ReplyDeleteA truly magnificent, gentle, soft, calm, peaceful, wonderful card and (for me) captures the essence of Christmas (I'm not sure if I mean 'essence' but you'll get my drift!) The redo is my favourite. TFC to win the lovely stamp.

I think the thinner frame on the new card really does a lot for lightening the overall look of the card. Thanks for the tip about enamel accents. I'll need to try that!
ReplyDeleteReally stunning! Would this work for a mass produce, do you think?
ReplyDeleteGreat card! The stamp is wonderful and I love the snowdrops!
ReplyDeleteKarin

ReplyDeleteI have this stamp so don't enter me - I just had to tell you I saw your card on pinterest and it took my breath away - I love the idea of using the enamel accents over the snow and love the effect of adding the gel pen - this is just gorgeous!!

ReplyDeleteWow! This is absolutely gorgeous!!! I am so glad I found it on Pinterest :). I hope I win the stamp; I would love to give this card a try.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful. I love when someone can create beauty so simply; without using a half dozen layers or accessories. You clearly have an artist's eye.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely perfect winter scene! And I love that stamp, thanks for the opportunity to win it!!!
ReplyDeleteLove this card. Simple and Beautiful. Thanks for a chance to win.
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful. I have a similar Memory Box stamp, but no snow. I wonder if some dry embossing could work for the snow.
ReplyDeleteThis card is not only beautiful but one of the best physical examples of "Peace on Earth." If anyone has ever stood outside and quietly observed the peace and tranquility of snow falling on a crisp night to an already blanketed earth; then they know the true beauty of your card. Truly a picture worth a thousand words <3
ReplyDeleteI love the simplicity of both cards. Really lovely Lisa, thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteSharon.
The card is so beautiful; it's very peaceful and calming! I will definitely try this card. Thank you for sharing your card and a give away.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card with just the right amount of color. Perfect for Christmas without the traditional colors.

ReplyDeleteLove the card! It's beautiful! The snow is neat!
ReplyDeleteLove your card. Used it for inspiration as I do not have the stamp and only a vague idea of enamel dots. Ran thru big shot with embossing folder. Not as outstanding as yours, but will do for a first run thru. Thank you for sharing! Great idea. I was surprised that it was done several years ago. Still fresh looking.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card. Sadly the stamp is no longer available. Great job tho.
