On the Kick Start class I took recently, one of the things that was mentioned was to take old cards and redo. I had made this card two years ago when I didn't have a blog yet, my only source of showing my work was Splitcoaststampers...you can find my original(scary how I photographed then...not sure why it's sooooo bad, I had the same camera. I think I've learned just a little about picture taking since then:):):)!!!) HERE...I did away with the framing, changed the sentiment, made the snowflakes smaller and colored the scene just a tad differently...maybe not a real redo...but a redo for me...

Made with a stamp from Memory Box (Snowy Branches), stamped with Early Espresso and clear embossed. Sponged with SU Baja Breeze after tearing a post it note in half. Sponged top first, masking the bottom, then masked the top and super lightly sponged the bottom. Because the snow was brown dots when stamped, dotted the snow with white Enamel Accents, white gel pen didn't work. Used a white gel pen to put some snow on the branches. The sentiment is SU.

ReplyDeleteOh oh that is SUCH a cool way to use the dot template! WOuld have never thought of that. I like the graduation hue - just learned last weekend how to do it several ways than how I was doing it - a lot less damaging to the paper!

I think the thinner frame on the new card really does a lot for lightening the overall look of the card. Thanks for the tip about enamel accents. I'll need to try that!

ReplyDeleteLove your card. Used it for inspiration as I do not have the stamp and only a vague idea of enamel dots. Ran thru big shot with embossing folder. Not as outstanding as yours, but will do for a first run thru. Thank you for sharing! Great idea. I was surprised that it was done several years ago. Still fresh looking.
