I am so excited to be a part of today's Simon Says Stamp's Blog Hop, celebrating their latest wonderful release, Diecember®...a release in the month of December that celebrates DIES!!
If you are following the Hop, you should have reached my blog from the talented Heather Ruwe's blog!
I LOVE dies!! When I began stamping MANY years ago (trying hard not to date myself), dies were new on the scene of crafting, and not at all what they are today! When I came back to stamping back in 2009, one of my first purchases was a Big Shot. Three Big Shots later(yes, I use them a lot)...I am more in love with them than ever!! I have used one of the wonderful new dies from this release, Tree Frame, to make three different cards! I have only scratched the surface with all the possibilities of this die, but hope this gives you a flavor of the cards you can make with this beautiful die!!...
This first one I kept the outline of the tree white, and used paint chips to get a variation of brown to fill the tree in with...three shades of brown. I die cut and layered the tree, and added a red layered heart on a string, along with a new sentiment from the Diecember® release, which I also layered! I thought it would be cool to have a very white card with the red heart being the "pop" of color on the card. Here's a close up...
The second one, I decided to make a tree with a snowy background, and make this card a Christmas card!
I sponged the Simon Sparrow ink onto the tree, and then sponged the Simon Cloudy Sky ink on a separate die cut, so I wouldn't have to worry about getting ink from either die cut onto the other. I added some white gel ink for the snowflakes, and the snow along the tree. I then combined the pieces of brown tree and snowy sky. I added an older Simon sentiment, stamped in the same Sparrow ink. I layered the tree a couple times for some depth. Here's a close up...
The third one, I chose to make the tree die cut into a silhouetted tree, and sponged some distress inks onto some watercolor paper to make a "sunrise"....
I colored the tree with a black Mark It marker and layered it a couple times and adhered together. I added the sentiment from the Simon sentiment stamp set, Messages for Everyday. Here's a close up...
