I have been wanting to make a sprinkled ice cream bar for a couple years, but wasn't sure how. I discovered a new challenge...new for me...CASology and with this week's Cue Card being Cool...
...I decided it was time to try my hand at the ice cream bar and join the "cool" gang:)!! It's a happy day when I can have a cool ice cream bar:):)...
I used a My Favorite Thing Rectangle die, cut a white then a couple chipboard pieces of paper and rounded the corners with a corner punch. I used a scallop punch and took a bite out the upper corner. I adhered all the rounded rectangles together and used some Aleene's Fast Grab Tacky glue(I had tried a couple others, but this one worked WONDERFULLY! Other glues were runny and not only didn't hold the sprinkles on the paper, but were so wet they made the sprinkles "bleed". This glue is thick and holds these tiny sprinkles great and dries pretty fast!!!) and I FULLY COVERED the ice cream bar with Wilton's rainbow sprinkles. I actually put the paper face down into a small Tupperware container whose bottom was filled with sprinkles and slightly pressed down. Then, let dry without touching much. I made the stick with some wood paper, cut with the corners rounded. I layered the stick and then adhered to ice cream bar. I stamped the sentiments and adhered the bar to the card.
Now...I know what you're thinking...how do you put this in an envelope?? I really didn't plan to!! I will be giving this card to a friend. What is really cool is that I purchased a wonderful card hanger die from Laurie Willison a number of months ago that has been anxiously waiting for just this opportunity...it was designed for cards like this one that you are giving with a gift bag and/or for any cards you just want to use to decorate your gift bags!!(please excuse my terrible staging...refer to Laurie's site for loveliness). The card becomes part of the gift bag....
These dies allow cards like this one to be the bag's decoration and keep the card from getting squished! Creative genius, Laurie!! You can check out her site to find the different designs she now has for sale of these card hanger dies! It was great finding CASology and playing along this week:)!!
Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa
