Yeah...I finally sat down in my craft room today and had some fun!! We have been in the process of building a shower for our son, Noah. We are remodeling our garage(which my craft room is presently a part of already), which we are sooooo excited about and thankful for, but it has been 2 months of chaos in our house. The job only requires a few small things to complete the rennovation, so over the weekend, I began the daunting task of putting all our "stuff" away...in the new laundry room, our smaller but nice attic and my newly organized shed. Let me tell you, I WORKED!!! Only have a few boxes of that stuff that you don't know where to put it/not sure you want it/afraid to get rid of it for fear you'll want it later...stuff! With only that ahead of me, I could be a bit more full of peace today:):):)!!! I purchased some reduced stamps at Michael's some weeks back made by Doodlebug and thought they were sooooo cute. I made this one this morning based on an incredible card by Amy Wanford which you can find HERE! I was so taken by it, that I was determined to try it myself!
I wrote "pull up" on my card, so the one who receives it will know that they need to do something.
I stamped the house image and sentiment(Jane's Doodles) on acetate then stamped only the image on white cardstock. I paper pieced the colored house and added Martha Stewart punched hearts. You place the two images together and cut to make them the same size, making sure to REALLY keep them together. Trimmed the corners, punched a hole and attached red ribbon.
I made a frame with MFT retangle dies and adhered a separate piece of white paper behind the black frame with thin pop up dots. I then added another layer of thin dots behind the white and slid the acetate house in front of the white and the paper pieced house behind the white.
And as you pull up, the colored house "magically" appears:)!! thanks, Amy, for your amazing creativity...WHAT FUN!!
I have a few more cards made with the Doodlebug stamp sets I will share in the coming days:)!! Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa

Oh how sweet Lisa. Love, love, love it! The tag is adorable. And, more importantly, I'm sure the shower for Noah will be fabulous. I'm sure if will make things easier for both of you. Hugs to you, my friend!
ReplyDeleteAdorable card!!!
ReplyDeleteWow, is this card ever sweet and lovely, Lisa! I love the pull-out design and colors! Your craftsmanship is superb! So wonderful of you to stop by my blog today! HUGS!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! A grandma magic card! My grandmother in law used to make this style of card and she called them grandma magic cards. Hers were the whole card as opposed to a smaller bit on the front of the card. I love the idea of a smaller magic frame on the front of a card. I'm going to have to dig out the directions for it.
ReplyDeleteI love your card! I'm so happy that my own card inspired you to try it out yourself - it's so fun!
ReplyDeleteI also adore how the sentiment matches with the magic that happens to that house!
Thanks for your kind words and for sharing your creativity! :)
Hugs!
