This week's challenge at Simply Less is More is to make a card with the theme COCKTAIL. I have never been a cocktail kinda girl, and although this challenge was open to interpretation, all forms of cocktail that I could think of were beyond my realm of creativity, so I found this challenge really challenging!! I googled cocktails to find some cocktail inspiration and I found this one that really caught my eye:
I thought the color was so pretty! I tried at least a 1/2 dozen cards, but nothing seemed just right(and as a second opinion I ask my DD Emma...she didn't like any of them either). I kept coming back to my original idea, which wasn't my idea at all but the creativity of a brilliant stamper, Jenny who made a card I just love and keep going back to for inspiration, found HERE!!
I used her idea of the MFT(My Favorite Things) die where all three flowers are attached, die cut them, added sentiment(Hero Arts) and put a piece of polka dotted embossed bright green paper behind them. Popped it up on card and added black glitter stick on dots(cool that they come in 3 different sizes like the flowers...from Michaels) SUPER simple...but here's the thing....I first made an all white one, then thought that maybe it would look cooler on a black card...so here are both:
First the all white:
Then the black one:
It continues to be a crazy week, but I'm thankful that I got to play a little...and make some cards I like:)!!
Hope you have a great weekend...smile!!

Love both of them but think the black has just the edge for me ! x
I'm glad someone else asks their kids if they like their cards LOL! Love your trio of flowers, with the bonus being they are green as green is my favorite colour :) Great take on the challenge!
Hi Lisa
they are both fabulous [as is the inspiration]
I think the black has the slight edge
Stunning
That cocktail looks kinda inviting too!
Thank you

Well I think these are simply fab!
Great use of your inspiration pic and a terrific interpretation of our theme.
Super job!
Thanks so much!

"Less is More"
great inspired design idea - look so good - love that green and those sharp edged flowers!
I guess I took the challenge more "literal" than you did...and I think I like your card better! LOL!! Super idea with the dimension!
These are a great interpretation for this challenge! I think I like it best on the black. It makes it pop more.
Now I'm really feeling thirsty Lisa, that picture is just so tempting!
I love your take on the challenge, those bright green flowers are amazingly eye-catching and I agree with Bonnie, the black base makes all the difference.
Thanks for the mention *blush*

Hi - you've CASEd Jenny's card brilliantly! And I think for me the black backing has the edge (sorry!) for me! Both are great cards!
Gorgeous cards Lisa - I loved Jenny's and I love yours - the green and black with the textured cream is a great colour scheme!
This is so pretty. I love the green and black. It's very striking. I had admired Jenny's card, too. :) Ann
And you've been showcased at LIM - congratulations!!
Fabulous take on the cocktail theme! I love that card of Jenny's too. :) Congrats on being showcased!
