With Sympathy

Sympathy cards are difficult, but made a bit easier, when inspired by the leaves in the beautiful Simon Says Stamp Be Kind stamp/die set and the CZ Design Clean Line Everyday stamp set...
I used the Simon heavyweight vellum, stamped with versamark and silver embossed.  I stamped, embossed, then die cut the leaves, and colored them from behind(colored on the backside of the stamped vellum), with two shades of green markers, the darker one for the top leaves that reminded me of eucalyptus.  I added a sentiment from CZ Design's Clean Line Everyday, also embossed in silver.  I did not layer the leaves...you heard right...I did not layer the leaves, write it down, not sure it will ever happen again...ha ha... but layered them on top of one another and adhered them together a tiny bit .  I loved how you could see through to the other leaves.  Super simple and pretty easy...just what you need when having to send such a difficult card.  Here is a close up...

Hope you are having a healthy and happy week...kindness is so important all the time, but especially right now, and please stay safe!
Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa

  6. Thisis such a lovely card Lisa. I can never heat-emboss onto a card and not get it curly. Yours is beautifully flat!

  8. Wow! So clean, crisp and gorgeous. Must try! Question (as always): how have you adhered the vellum - both on cardbase and on top of each other???

    1. No problem with the questions...I am so sorry...I feel like the person who passed out the recipe, but left out one of the critical ingredients! I forgot to put the vellum adhesive in my description and product list. I just ran a tiny bit here and there on the top two layers, and a bit more on the bottom layer so that it stuck really well. Vellum adhesive is great because it doesn't show through. I have just started using the Plus brand after my Tombow didn't exist anymore...Plus works great! I've put it in my product list for you! Hope this helps:)

    2. Thanks so much! It helped a lot! I love vellum, but the sticking part is always sticky ;) I'll have a look out for the Plus brand. Stay safe!

  11. Lisa, I have another question for you...your greens look so smooth and even. I have a hard time with getting great, even coverage on vellum. Do you have and tips for coloring on vellum and what type of markers did you use? Thanks.

  12. I used my Prismacolor markers...Dark green and leaf green. I have had the problem of spotting and clumping sometimes, too...especially when I try to create some shading, or when I use my sharpie markers, or when I go over a spot just colored...ok, a lot of times:)!! I simply colored these really quickly, a quick brush over all the leaves, using one color on each set of die cut leaves, no shading, no multiple colors. I don't really have any tips, just trial and error and sometimes just liking the chaos of it all. After all, through vellum, the front always looks a little better than the backside after I color...:)!! Hope this helps??...have a good week...
