Patterned Paper and Sentiment Dies

I have struggled over the years, using patterned paper.  I get frustrated at the large patterned scrapbook papers, or the papers that have vintage/stained edges (I'm a bit OCD about that...I like uniform design on paper....when I cut it, I want it all the pieces to look the same), or the basic colored papers and patterns in a 6 x 6 pad, but the backgrounds are off white, not really bright white, to match my white cardstock...or the color black being REALLY black on patterned papers.   I have actually thought of figuring out how to start my own paper company to make patterned papers for cardmakers like me!!  I still continue to search and look for papers that make me happy, and a couple days ago, I found some papers by American Crafts that WERE 12 x 12 papers, but I LOVED the bright white backgrounds and the colors of the flowers and designs.  You WILL be seeing a lot of these papers...so a moment of happiness...here's my cards...
All three cards were made using black card stock, a word die and the patterned paper. I loved the graphic look of these three sentiment dies....thought they went wonderfully with all the flowers.   I layered the first and third cards UNDERNEATH the sentiments, the second one I used pop up dots underneath the sentiment.  LOVE the black underneath the pretty colored/patterned papers...
Added a couple enamel dots, one on either side of the middle sentiment for separation.  Here's a close up to show the depth of the die cuts...
I was loving the bold sentiment dies, and the third one was no exception...
I chose a pink heart to fill in the "o heart", here's a close up...
OK...SUPER FUN...cards that scream simplicity... with endless possibilities!!  Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa

  4. I didn't know anyone else felt this way about most of the patterned paper on the market! I keep buying pads of patterned paper because it looks so pretty in the store, but when I get it home it just never works with my card designs! You'd think I'd wake up and stop buying it! The patterns are usually way too big for cards and it's so hard to match most of the colors in the various papers. Like you, I wish I had my own paper company and could design just what I wanted. I generally end up making cards with all plain papers and have started doing more of my own stamped backgrounds.

Love your pretty cards with your new find in paper!

  7. Hi Dena! I have had a number of questions about the paper, it's 12 x 12 single sheets of paper by American Crafts from AC Moores...the yellow and blue floral are called "The Color of Memories" and the pink floral is called "Pebbles"...hope this will help you find it:)!! Hugs!!

  9. I very much appreciate some patterned paper cards that actually look great. I am going to do this on lots of my patterned paper. I have such a time working/using patterned paper, that no matter how much I have I end up using just solids.

    Thanks for your pretty samples.
