I am thrilled as can be to have been asked by Chrissy to be the guest designer this week at CAS(E) this Sketch!...thank you, Chrissy!! The sketch this week was so much fun, here's my card and the sketch...
I tried the technique I saw Jennifer McGuire use, on the Hero Arts website a little over a week ago...Iron Off Embossed Background! I used this Hero Arts stamp with a stamped background to try this technique and use for my card...
I tried the technique I saw Jennifer McGuire use, on the Hero Arts website a little over a week ago...Iron Off Embossed Background! I used this Hero Arts stamp with a stamped background to try this technique and use for my card...
I stamped it with versamark and clear embossed. I then used a paint brush with stampin up Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose, Lucky Limeade, and Summer Sun reinkers and some water, and painted the flowers and stems. THEN, the cool part. I took a hot iron with the stamped/embossed image between 2 pieces of typing paper, and placed the iron on the sandwiched image. The heat(done 3 or 4 times, moving the paper as it will have embossing on it)will remove all the embossed parts, leaving the painted flowers and stems and a smooth surface on the entire image, making it look like it was painted...here's a bit better close up...no shine left...
Then, I cut the image to 3" x 3" , then 1" x 3"strips and then cut into 1" squares. Layered each square on 2 more squares, if you know me, you know I LOVE layering...and added a Hero Arts sentiment, black and clear embossed. Such fun...and as Jennifer said, a bit addictive...I will be searching my stash for more of the same kind of stamps to do some more ironing off...love the look of it...so pretty without all the embossing shine!! She did hers with watercolor paper, I just had artist watercolor paper, which was bumpy and didn't stamp as precisely as I needed it to. I used Papertrey Ink white paper for this card...a thick white paper...worked perfectly, but would love to try some smooth watercolor paper.
Hope you will join the fun, this week and give this very fun, cool sketch a try!! Hope you have a fantastic rest of your week:)!! Hugs!! Lisa

ReplyDeleteThats sooo clever, never would have realised the stamp gave the reverse effect..... perfect way to try the technique :0)
ReplyDeleteLove your card Lisa and thanks for sharing the explanation of how you achieved the effect - very useful.
ReplyDeleteI finally understand what is going on with the iron off technique. I've seen a couple people mention it but didn't "get it." Thanks to your great directions I get it. Love your card. I've always liked punched grids. They just make my heart happy.
