CAS(E) this Sketch #16

I was so impressed with the creative takes by the design team with this week's sketch...I often wish I could break out of the box, more, and see sketches other than literally....I will keep trying, but on that note, this week's sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch and my take on it...
I used a set by Papertrey Ink Fruit Fusion Apple stamp set...
Die cut the panel, stamped the apple 3 different times and adhered under panel with pop up dots.  I cut the core part of the 3rd apple out of the stamp so that I could easily stamp the seeds by themselves in black(I am not a fan of masking stamps if I don't have to :)!!).  The 3 apples are all individual papers so they could be placed behind the panel more easily...no, they are not all on one piece of paper, lest you think I worked THAT hard!!   Paper pierced next to the sentiment and although very little piercing, will also enter this into Less is More's challenge 108 of paper piercing on your clean and simple card...having fun!!...Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa

Edited 3/1:  Oh my goodness...Love CAS(E) this Sketch to the core...thanks for the Favorite vote this week...I am honored and so thrilled...thank you ladies:)!!!...

Happy Butterfly

I had been going through all my stamp drawers the last week..."thinning the herd", when I found a couple flowered butterfly stamps I had purchased over a year ago.  I had stamped with the large one, just to try it out, but never made a card with it...until today....

I stamped in black and clear embossed, cut out,  and colored with sharpies and a gray Memento marker.  The sentiment is Hero Arts...but the name of the company that made the butterfly stamp escapes me.  I almost didn't put this card up because I felt so bad that I didn't have a company name to give you.  The stamps are rubber cling stamps...got from a fairly large company somewhere in the western side of the states, but thought maybe someone might know and could let ME know!!! The first time I saw this stamp was Mandi's card HERE...loved it so much that through emails, I found that a stamp she bought in the UK was actually made here in the states...but just cannot remember by who or where!!!  If you know, please let me know...Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa

Delightful Doggie

I was shopping with my daughter the other day at Target, and spied a gift bag with a cute Boston Terrier on it...being that I have never seen a dog on a gift bag before, I'm thinking Boston Terriers are a happening thing:)!!   I had received a Boston Terrier stamp and die from Simon Says a couple months ago (their trademark is the owner's own brown Boston terrier, Simon) and just had to try my hand at a card with one of these cute little fellows!!..
I paper pieced him together, stamping the image on white and black, then cutting out the black image and adhering it  to the white one.  I stamped a piece of one sentiment and a separate sentiment from the Simon Says Stamp set called Absolutely Delightful and colored with sharpie markers.
Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa

My Last Girl Friday Post...CAS-ual Fridays 91

This week's CAS-ual Fridays challenge will be my last challenge and this will be my last post as a Girl Friday. Never having been on a design team before CAS-ual Fridays, I am so incredibly thankful to Michele Gross for taking  a chance on me and giving me the wonderful opportunity to be a part of her team of designers!!  As a member of this team, I have been among some of the most amazing artists and just plain sweet ladies in this business!!  Michele is one of the most loving ladies I know, communicative and organized to a tee...it has been an incredible learning experience and with her at the helm...it has been so  fun and easy!!  I am excited about the future and what the stamping/card making world holds in store...and am blessed to have WONDERFUL memories of my time as a CAS-ual Fridays Girl Friday!!!!!  Congrats to all the new Girl Fridays and the continuing team...I KNOW we will see amazing inspiration from this new team!!!
This week's challenge at CAS-ual Fridays is to make a clean and simple project having SILVER on it...
The title makes me think of a certain ranger and his horse...ok...maybe I'm dating myself:)...but just as long as your card has silver, the ranger and horse are optional:)!!
This week's sponsor is Ribbons Unlimited...
The winner of this week's challenge will win a fun prize package!!   So let's see your silver!!  Here's what I made...
I made this card using the sentiments from one of the new CAS-ual Fridays Stamps sets...Only You.  The Loopy Rings are a Memory Box die. Here's a close up of the sentiment...the loops and sentiments are silver, the heart in metallic red...
Ok...need to show you how easy this was...die cut the loopy rings die twice...(you can click on the pics to make them bigger)
There are a lot of random loops that I used for the outer fill-ins on the card, but am just showing you the big center pieces.  I decided to put the rings together on the card, but there were 3 places that the dies overlapped...on the middle right, center and left...
The following pic shows all three rings that were cut out...
This is what it looks like "kinda" put together...

Then took the sentiments and placed them in the loops I wanted...
Put an acrylic block on top of the sentiments making sure to line the ends of the block to the ends of the card panel...
Then take the loops off, use a static bag, and stamp with versa mark and silver emboss...there you have it..
One last look with all the rings attached, the die cut red metallic heart and the extra rings...
Hope you will join the fun this week...the challenge ends on next Thursday at noon.  Hope you all have a great week and...will see you around blogland   Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa

EDITED****  I have had a number of questions, so thought I would put it in the post:)...I used my tombow runner adhesive for this card.  I just run it on the back of the rings... dotty-like on random places and definitely at the ends.  I have used glossy accents or diamond glaze on other things, but if you don't place your piece down exactly right on the card,  it's kind of messy. A runner adhesive might leave a slug-like trail of glue, but I just use my fingers to rub it away...or an exacto knife if I can see the "slug" on the card...works better for me than wet glue...and holds just as well.  The  paper I used was from Michael's...Recollection brand...on the back it just says Foil...they are red and silver colored.  Hope this helps...and thanks for the questions:)!!  Here's a link to the die...it seems to be out of stock...but if you're patient...it'll be available again:)!!...HERE Updated March 2nd...AVAILABLE:)!!

CAS(E) this Sketch 15

Nothing like under the wire...a quick entry into CAS(E) This Sketch #15...here's the sketch and my card...
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the simplicity of this sketch...and that was my take...simplicity!!
Used a set from Verve ...Making a Statement...with the coordinating dies.  Loved how the sentiment had the dotted lines...kind of fit the sketch:)!!  Used orange sharpie markers and green memento markers to color, layered and popped up the flower.  Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa

Thanks so much for the sweet shout out from CAS(E) this Sketch for making my card a CAS(E) this Sketch FAVORITE this week:)!!...I am so honored...

Clean and Simple...No White

Oh how I love dies...can't help it...won't excuse it...I just love them!!  I got a set of dies by W Plus 9 Designs around Christmas and thanks to some reorganizing in my craft space...rediscovered them:)!!  I made a couple cards with one of the dies...and realized when I finished, that they had NO WHITE on them ANYWHERE...heavens to murgatroyd...
The dies are W Plus 9 Design Quilt Cuts 2 Dies, the sentiment on the first is Simon Says Stamp from Absolutely Delightful.  I used Tim Holtz distress paper for the pink and bazzill for the second.  The sentiment on the yellow is from Simon Says Stamp, too...aptly named YOU.
I layered the frame with a couple layers and put a piece of paper behind the frame and all the die cut pieces...slathered with adhesive...so the frame as well as it's pieces don't move or fall out.  The color possibilities are endless...fun, fun, fun!!!  Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa

Rainbow Birds

When I was die cutting all the large flowers for my thank you cards  yesterday, I had some little spaces of white paper left over....never wanting to waste paper, I die cut the little birds from the same set (Hero Arts Bold Pop Design Set) from the leftover paper, and thought I would find something to make with them later.  Well, today is later...in my favorite color scheme...rainbow...made this with my birdies...
Used a sentiment and striped border from a Simon Says Stamp set(Absolutely Delightful) and dotted the bird's eyes with Enamel Accents.  Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa

Flower Frenzy Thanks

Just a quick post...
Used a cool embossing folder I bought at AC Moores a couple months ago...thought it was so pretty and perfect with something very simple in front of it....like this Sizzix sentiment(Phrases, Thanks).  The folder is made by Darice and is called Flower Frenzy and is 5 x 7...so a wonderfully large folder to fit an entire A2 card if you like:)!!  Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa

Flowery Thank You Cards

Was in need of some thank you notes...pulled out a set that I thought would make for some fun flowers.   The flowers are Hero Arts Bold Pop Design Set...stamps with matching dies...and the sentiment is from Hero Arts as well, Thank You Messages.  I used some kraft paper, a spellbinders circle die and cut a circle just big enough for the flower...
I used a helpful hint from the Clean and Simple Card Making class, in getting the sentiment to fit the circle, by placing the circle die on my acrylic block and lining my sentiment AROUND the circle.  This, of course, will only work with clear stamps...but a very cool tip!!  I could have textured or stamped the panel....just opted to keep it plain...and simple:)!!
Made one in orange, too....(also made one in turquoise, but had no turquoise buttons...turquoise seems to be a color that escapes ribbons and buttons:(!!)
Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa

More Plaid Stars

Had a few more plaid stars(you can die cut a bunch if you "plaid" a small card sized piece of paper:)!!)...combined with a Paper Smooches sentiment, layered on kraft textured paper with Papertrey Ink's Linen/Canvas impression plate...
Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa

Plaid Stars

I love the Online Card Classes...the one that ended this week focused on Clean and Simple card making and was phenomenal!!  I love getting to learn new techniques for making cards...it is fun, too, getting to hear and learn from some incredibly talented and fun ladies!!  I have admired Laura Bassen's work for a long time, but got to learn from her this time via video.  She taught about how she stamps plaid.  Laura's work is uber creative and beautiful and it was so wonderful to put an actual voice and personality to the artist who's work I so admire...she is down to earth, fun and funny!!   Well...I HAD to try my hand at making plaid...although she masked, I simply stamped on paper, then die cut some stars FROM my stamped paper.  It WAS a bit challenging...not difficult, but as Laura said, it takes practice to get the stamping perfect...but seeing the plaid when it is finished is sweet!!  So....I took my plaid stars (not perfect) and made two cards...
Used Papertrey Ink  Background Basics Super Stripes...really easy to stamp with!!   The large hearts are Papertrey Ink Seeing Stars die cuts, the smaller pink star is My Favorite Things.  The small ones on the top card are Simon Says Stamp Large Holiday Shapes dies, the small stars on the bottom are W Plus 9 star dies....I know...a lot of star dies....but I think you can never have enough stars or hearts!!    Both sentiments are Simon Says Stamp ...the top card from Talk Bubbles 2 and the bottom card from Banner Sayings.  I used my Papertrey Ink Woodgrain Impression plate on the bottom with Lifestyle Crafts banners and arrows for the sentiments.
Great fun...now I can say that I've acutally tried it...and liked it!!  Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa
